This year the theme is very definitely vintage with a lovely overture of dusky pale pink roses and pale blues – to compliment the style.  I have just visited the International cake exhibition looking at new designs for the coming season.  So have many new inspiring designs going around my head, can’t wait to get back home to Ibiza to try some samples!

While over here in the UK I have ‘tied the knot’ myself to my partner and love of my life Hedley Paul  ( www.blessings-on-ibiza.com  ) the most lovely ceremony host.  We had a small celebration with close friends and family in Weston Super Mare obviously  Hedley Paul re-wrote the registrar’s ceremony  so it was especially lovely!!!.  The day itself was forecast  heavy rain but the sun shone!    We were even able to celebrate in the court yard with a glass of champagne (or two!!)

I made my wedding cake while home in Ibiza,  as we usually drive our car over to the UK and leave it there for a couple of months it made sense to do this,  so the cake was easily transported ( I have purpose built containers).  I made rich fruit cake for the top tier  I also made an extra one to give to the home where my Mother now lives,   the cupcakes  where also of rich fruit so that it would  keep and mature ready for our special day.

Here is a picture of the cake, the lace was edible, coloured gold and I piped the lace around the cake following a template I found in a book.   As you can see our theme of the day of ivory, red and roses!!  So the cake was made to match.  This style of cupcake with the fancy lacework would look lovely as a base for a vintage theme especially if the icing was in pale blue with ivory/cream lace, or dusky pink with dusky pink roses……  the possibilities are never ending with this style of edible lace. This is a new icing product from America which enables you to make such delicate lace designs much easier than in the past  therefore enabling me to create  that wow factor  for you  without breaking the bank!
