Last summer while working in Ibiza I was asked if I would provide a wedding cake to be displayed at the Cake International show at the NEC in Birmingham. I felt proud and honoured to be asked. Consequently I said yes. 😊
There were a number of specifications I needed to fulfil, the style was to be a wedding cake suitable for spring including green and pinks and some rose gold colour.
I worked on a design using dummy cakes to make a 5-tiered cake. I incorporated as many of my sugar craft skills as possible.
The top of this layer was blended into the following layer by adding more of these hand rolled roses and then topped with sugar leaves which were hand painted and shaped to look real.
So that is the complete design, this was all made on ‘dummy cakes’ as I transported the cake to the UK it was then on display for 4 days at this most prestigious event.
Cake International is the most important cake show in the world, with cake artists attending from as far away as Australia. I am proud and privileged to have been recognised and therefore to be part of this event.
I also attended the Cake Masters awards ceremony, which was a wonderful presentation to the best cake artists of the world. I had a wonderful time being part of this event which was followed by dinner and dancing.
All in all this was a wonderful 4 days, I am looking forward to being part of this event next year, yes I have been invited to take part again. 🙂
